Lesson Evaluation and Redesign
In this section, you will apply knowledge of the UDL framework, specifically the UDL guidelines and the UDL principles, to the lesson planning process. You will analyze the methods, materials, and assessments for an individual lesson plan and then revise that plan to make it more accessible for students.
The Planning for All Learners (PAL) process that is built upon two prerequisites: basic understanding of Universal Design for Learning, and commitment to make the curriculum and learning accessible for all learners.
The PAL Process helps us to:
Before we begin this activity, you will need to choose a lesson you want to revise.
- set goals (establish the context of the lesson, align goals to standards, find barriers in goals and plan appropriate scaffolds)
- analyze the status of the current curriculum (the goals, methods, materials, and assessments) identifying barriers to learning
- apply UDL to ensure that lessons will maximize learning (identifying and selecting options that meet the needs of all learners)
- teach the lesson; evaluate and revise as necessary
Before we begin this activity, you will need to choose a lesson you want to revise.
